Quo vadis, Spanish? Cervantes would be turning over in his grave if he only saw how his beloved language is now peppered with English words and phrases for no justifiable reason -- a sad commentary on the identity of an entire culture.
This is not an indictment of this blog's contents in particular but of the so-called bloggers in general who contribute to the deterioration of their own culture's language. Is it possible that nobody in the Spanish-speaking world can conjure up the equivalent meaning for words like web, blog or link, to mention only a few, and preserve the purity of their language?
The trend is obviously towards placing style above substance, which doesn't bode well for the culture if the keepers of literary values lack pride in their own language -- their stock-in-trade -- and contribute to its degradation.
